- What Is Binge Drinking? Binge alcohol use is defined as drinking five or more drinks on the same occasion on at least 1 day in the past 30 days (from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health [NSDUH]). Heavy drinking is defined as binge drinking on at least 5 days in the past month.
- When an individual drinks liquor, the alcohol enters the bloodstream-it then leaves the body through the kidneys, the liver and the lungs.
- A survey of 4,271 students from more than 10 universities found that about a quarter of the students that had consumed alcohol in the past 30 days said they were mixing alcohol with energy drinks, either the premixed kind or Red Bull and vodka.
